THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES....NEW YORK!

In 1935, New York's elite gathered at the Waldorf Astoria where Honorary Chairman, Sarah Delano Roosevelt, presented Lucy Keen Johnson from Georgia as the first American Mother of the Year.

In 1970, a plaque with the names of each National Mother was dedicated by Honorary Chairman, Mamie Eisenhower, and permanently placed in the south lounge of the Waldorf Astoria.

In 2013, our nation's elite, American Mothers, Inc., once again returned to the Waldorf Astoria to celebrate 78 years of honoring the importance of mothers and the influence women have at home, in the workplace, community and our country.
